Heavy metals in ayurvedic medicine
In India apart from modern medicine there is another form of medicine which is prevalent. It is ayurvedic medicine. It is advertised as safe medicine/no side effect medicine.
Many government and private college offers this medicine system for graduation. There is a government body as well which "regulates" these ayurvedic medicines. it is AYUSH.
Advertising it like this has made people to use it as home remedy. People in India are using such medicines without knowledge. But are they really safe. Even if we take a cinnamon tea/decoction in excess it causes acid reflux. Even simple food items like peanuts or sweets or ragi have side effects if consumed unmindfully or in excess. It may not be seen quickly. Then how come the ayurvedic medicines are completely safe, where no clinical trials have been done.
Now the major fact about ayurvedic medicines are they contain heavy metals which are very very hazardous for your body. Heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium. Even ayurvedic doctors give such medicines to the patients and say they are safe. Even they have been taught about heavy metals during their degrees like that. How ? How are heavy metals safe ? Did people do clinical trials of heavy metals medicines and see the effect before administering it to the patients and before including it in the syllabus?
Ayurveda do not talk about vitamins and minerals. This concept of vitamin deficiency does not exist in ayurveda. How come some diseases are completely solved by taking a particular vitamin supplement. Before the invention of vitamin C scurvy disease was considered a deadly disease like cancer. Some person then observed just by giving orange juice the symptoms are showing improvement. Few years after that vitamin C was discovered . And it was proved that deficiency of vitamin C causes scurvy and it can be resolved by using vitamin C tablets .
I have been to an ayurvedic practitioner once when I was having one particular problem. That ayurvedic practitioner was gold medalist and MD in ayurvedic medicine. She gave me some pills. I believed and started taking it for a month and a half. My problem aggravated and got into 50 other health problems after that. My face got pale , my stomach started paining, low energy, loss of hair . When I went through the lable I saw it was having lead in the tablets. When I talked to the doctor she said "it is completely safe". My quality of life after that started declining year on year .
If anything like that had happened in some other country the licence of practicing doctor would have cancelled but this is India . Here government is least bothered about health and how come government has allowed such syllabus to include in degree course.
I have been to such
